Wednesday, April 9th-  Grade Three Battle of the Books

Thursday, April 10th-   Grade Four Battle of the Books

Friday, April 11th-      Grade Five Battle of the Books

America’s Battle of the Books is coming to Woodrow Wilson School!

The Battle of the Books is a competition in which students will be quizzed about information from books they have read. Groups of third, fourth, and fifth graders formed teams of five  to six students. These teams worked together and read eight books from a list of selected titles. Each team member had the responsibility of reading at least three books on the list. Students had three months to read and share information from the books with the rest of their team.

On the day of the battle, our well prepared teams will answer rounds of questions about the events in the stories they have read. Students will work collaboratively to come up with the answer, and the team spokesperson will give the response. Each correct answer earns a point. The team at each grade level with the highest number of points is the winner!

A very big welcome to our Sister Cities guests from Debrecen Hungary!

You just won an IPAD Air!   You just won an IPAD mini!

These could be the very words you hear this week!    All you have to do is buy a raffle ticket to help support our Sister Cities Hungarian Exchange program.   Please bring $5.00 per ticket and see your homeroom teacher as soon as possible to buy your (hopefully) winning ticket!  Adults and students alike are invited to help support this great cause.

 March Multiplication Madness!

The roar of the crowd was intense on Thursday, March 13th in the gym here at Woodrow Wilson. Students from kindergarten up to 8th grade cheered on their favorite multiplication masters with handmade signs and plenty of loud applause.  Multiple rounds of multiplication facts challenged 16 competitors and 2 alternates in a fastest finger fight for the ages as they sped down the virtual track to victory.  In the end 3 students had the fastest times with the highest accuracy and were left standing  in first, second, and third place.

Congratulations to all competitors and a big thank you to all staff, students, and parents involved!
